As of 2010 there were approximately 39,819 teens in Bay, Midland, and Saginaw counties. Only about 4,800 regularly participate in a local church. Great Lakes Bay Youth For Christ strives to reach the other 88% of our community’s teens with “THE Life-changing Message of Jesus Christ.” How do we presume to tackle such a daunting task? The only way we know how, one student at a time. Great Lakes Bay Youth For Christ employs tried and true ministry models, Campus Life, Campus Life M, and Juvenile Justice Ministries, to reach out to EVERY teen with Christ’s love. Each ministry is core ministry of YFC/USA and stresses a relational ministry focus. Campus Life, Campus Life M, and Juvenile Justice Ministries equip staff to build Christ-centered relationships 3 ways:
1) 3Story Life Style – All Campus Life Staff & volunteers strive to connect “My Story, God’s Story, and Their Story.” Staff genuinely care for each student regardless of “Their Story.” As a result they truly listen and address students’ individual needs, questions, concerns, and hurts. www.3story.org
2) Practicing the “Five Essentials” – Widespread Prayer, Loving Relationships, Adults Who Empower, Faithful Bible Teaching, and Collaborative Community Strategy are five principles Great Lakes Bay YFC embrace in order to ensure high quality, effective ministries and work with like minded partners to reach as many teens as possible.
3) WE GO to the students – Great Lakes Bay YFC staff go to students no matter where they are. You’ll find our staff visiting lunch rooms, football games, choir concerts, musicals, and even chaperoning school dances. They will do everything the can to engage students on “their turf.”
Please feel free to explore both our ministries here and at the YFC/USA site to learn more about our programs and heart for youth. We need YOU too. We can’t do this alone and wouldn’t want to! Whether volunteering to work with students, helping with a fundraising event, or even making a tax-deductible contribution only together can we reach EVERY teen in Bay, Midland, Saginaw counties with “THE Life-changing Message of Jesus Christ.”
